Hand in Hand…
This is an evening in the making since 2022. We had just met, and decided to jump into a collaboration project that would take us to Brussels, Belgium. It was an incredible leap of faith between a saxophonist who really avoided dancing at all costs, and a dancer who had fears of venturing into the world of choreography. One of the first rehearsal in, out came the question, “Hey, do you think you could play laying on the ground?”… “I guess, but then how do I get up?!?” Before we knew it we were deep into uncharted territory, blurring the lines between the normal setup of musician standing in a corner (or under the stage) while the dance was being performed.
The first piece on the program, IN EACH PASSING MOMENT… is a direct reflection of the ways we hold on to the ones we love even when they are no longer present. We both pushed and challenged each other to stretch our creative boundaries while reflecting how people can have a lasting impact on the way we view the world.
After our premiere of IN EACH PASSING MOMENT… in Belgium we knew that we wanted to take our collaboration home to NYC and our moment finally came thanks to The Tank, tonight. The second piece of the program is “continual becoming.” A piece to celebrate and question growth, change, and human relationships. We have long anticipated the joy of inviting a dream team of our brilliant peers and friends to collaborate and join us on stage. And this is that moment. Thank you to the artists for their trust and whole hearted commitment to us.
Thank you to our families and our friends who have given constant support, encouragement, photographs, advice and so much more. We wouldn’t be here without you.
In many ways, “Hand in Hand” is a an evening about process. A continual becoming. An hour to feel deeply connected to those closest to us, and those we have yet to meet.
Love,
Joey and Hannah

Hand in Hand (The Fragrance!)
Hand in Hand invites the smeller into our world through its contrast to the environment outside the theater. It’s meant to offer a gentle, cooling welcome our audience as they enter the space. As it settles, Rose comes to the forefront and is supported by green, fruity, and woody elements. This show is a reflection of the optimism and tenderness of humanity, and we wanted a fragrance that echoed that sentiment. The fragrance feels “of nature”—like something you could find while surrounded by overgrown brush during peak bloom.
A common refrain about scent is its deep rooted connection to memory. It’s a bit of a tired trope when you spend all day around fragrance but it resonate here given that a major theme our show is about memory. Please use this fragrance to create a connection to the feeling you experience tonight. We hope you leave feeling a little bit lighter and more connected to one another.
Notes:
Blue Gum Eucalyptus / Rhododendron Leaves / Fruiting Pines
